ABOUT THE BALMS

Base Ingredients

All balms are made with beeswax, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter.

Vegan Base

If you would prefer a vegan base (no beeswax), please specify at checkout. NOTE: Vegan base requests will add at least 1-2 days extra time to your order, as I will probably need to make the balms. I'll be in contact if you order vegan base and let you know how quickly they'll go out. :)

Flavorings

Each balm is flavored with either essential oils or flavor oils or a combination of the two.

A note about flavors: Lip balms are meant to stay on your lips and not to be “tasted” per se. They are not actually “flavored;” they have body-safe oils added to them that you smell as you use them (but are called “flavorings” since they are safe to ingest). Lip balms are not supposed to have actual flavors, since balms are meant to stay on your lips and keep their moisture ON your skin. If you licked it all off because it tasted good, you’d not only lick off all the balm, negating using it in the first place, but excessive lip-licking is one cause of dryness in the first place! The balms do smell yummy enough to eat, but if you want to eat some chocolate or mint or cheesecake, just go get some. :) After saying all that, I will also say that a few balms might indeed have a sweet taste. This is a product of the particular oil used.

Balm Care

Please keep the tubes out of extreme heat (such as the heat of a car). If your balms ever get too soft, put them in the freezer for a bit.

Balm Uses

Geek Bliss balms work wonderfully on their own, but they also work great under lipstick to keep your lips from drying out.

You can use Geek Bliss balms on dry skin patches such as knuckles, elbows, knees and feet, although I do advise cleaning the balm off after using it on other places (especially your feet). ;)

Tube Uses

After you finish a balm, you can clean the tube out with hot water and a bit of soap. Use it to store little things such as sewing needles or a tiny sewing kit or earrings or beads…or whatever else you can think of!

ABOUT THE MAKER

My name is Sara, and I'm a lifelong geek & creative. I'm an overeducated writer & ex-college teacher who loves scifi & fantasy, creating, marketing, reading, animals, nature, and computers. I'm known online as Charlie, my callsign from The Colonial Fleet (a BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fan group, where I am a moderator), and as Cyberdelia, a name I've used for years. It's from one of my favorite movies, HACKERS; it's the name of the gaming cafe where the kids hang out. My other favs include THE MATRIX, STAR TREK: TNG, STAR WARS (A New Hope), THE BIG BANG THEORY, CHUCK, FRINGE, X-FILES, LORD OF THE RINGS, TRANSFORMERS, IRON MAN, and...yep, TWILIGHT. ;) (I'm used to getting grief for that by now...)

I grew up loving cartoons like VOLTRON and TRANSFORMERS and all the little handheld electronic games that were starting to appear on the market...and then my mom and I got hooked on STAR WARS when it first came out in the 70s, and saw it 7 times in the theater, much to my dad's chagrin! He never understood. Back then, my mom had a red, five-speed Honda, which she named "Red Five"...so naming things after favorite movies started early for me. ;) (The balm "Red Five Standing By" was created in my mom's honor, and half the proceeds go to her favorite charity---check out the balm page for details). My geekiness was thus cemented.

In 2009 I came up with the idea to make some lip balms themed for DragonCon, and I had so much fun with it that I just kept going. It started as a side idea, but now in 2010 I'm developing it into a full-fledged business. I've had endless enjoyable hours making testers, trying new flavors, creating labels, and selling on Etsy & this website. I love creating these amazing balms and hearing from people about how much they enjoy them!
